A wise friend once said: “when holidaying on the continent, one must parday in chateaux.” So that was our plan as we set off from several fab days in Paris to the Loire Valley, about 200km south of the city. Although Tours, the main city in the valley is fairly commercial, 20 minutes out of town you begin to encounter the quaint villages and the pastoral countryside that the area is known for. And so like true locals, we generously threw around many “bonjour”, “bon soir”, and “c’est un mouton magnifique” and were thus quickly accepted into the community. Admittedly, the cuisine is slightly more traditional than in Paris, but the 8 euro bottles of champagne and 1 euro coffees more than made up for any culinary cravings. Oh, and as for “pardaying in chateaux”, we’ve been hard at work there too… : )

Notre Cher Comte et Comtesse,
Hard to believe what a Motel 6 looks like in France compared to North America!
However, we're a little worried about that Derriere Porte moniker. Since you guys definitely look like you've adapted to the life of the nobility, forgive us if we think of you instead as "Lord Hound" & "Lady Helenka" of Ratley Manor !!
You look fantastic & are obviously having the time of your lives (well, other than missing Wall Street terribly)!!
We plebs look forward to continuing to live vicariously thru the two of you & your great blogsite !!
